Creators need captions when speech is already on the track and the remaining job is readable type on a vertical frame. On YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and similar players, burned-in words carry the hook when sound is off, and they keep names and negatives accurate when auto speech-to-text drifts. This matrix answers which of the eight tools already filed on this site expose that job on the web, over an API, or through an official MCP connector. It is not a ranking of caption fonts, and it does not invent support for vendors this directory has not opened.
How to read this table
- Web is
observedonly when the CapCut, Creatify, or sibling tool page already records a caption or on-timeline text finish for that product. A general editor claim without a caption sentence staysnot_observed. - API quotes the documented developer URL from the tool page when
has_apiis true, or states that a public creator API was not observed. A URL here is not a guarantee that the API burns captions; read the cell text. - MCP distinguishes an official remote server URL printed on the tool page from "not observed." Community wrappers are not listed as official.
- Price is the starter band copied from the tool page's
pricing_tier, with the same verification date. Region stickers for CapCut stay as region stickers; do not treat one currency as global. - Verified is the date on that tool page extract (2026-10-16 for this first tier). Re-open the vendor card before you budget.
Selection tips
- If the file is already cut and you only need auto captions, a cover frame, and a safe-zone check, start on CapCut and follow captions and covers.
- If Creatify already produced the ad and you only need text and trim fixes, the Creatify tool page says those manual edits are free and can be re-exported; regenerating voice or avatar spends credits.
- If the scarce thing is the voice track, not type on screen, use ElevenLabs and the voice and publish path, then return here for burn-in.
- If the scarce thing is a talking face, finish the presenter in HeyGen or Creatify, then caption in CapCut. This matrix does not treat avatar export as a caption product.
- Animated-caption SaaS names such as Submagic appear on the captions-cover workflow as optional vendors without a
/toolspage. Their matrix row is therefore absent here rather than filled with guesses.
Related workflows and models
- Workflows: captions-cover, long-to-short, faceless, ugc-ads.
- Models: generation models on this site do not replace a caption timeline. Pair shots from Kling, Seedance, or Runway Gen with CapCut for type.
FAQ
Does CapCut expose captions over an API or MCP?
Not on the extract filed for CapCut. has_api is false, and no official MCP URL was observed. Treat captions as a person-in-the-editor finish.
Are Creatify caption edits billed?
The Creatify tool page states that manual edits after export — including text and captions — are free and can be re-exported. Regenerating the video, avatar, voice, or script spends credits.
Why are HeyGen and Runway marked not observed for web captions?
Their tool pages point creators to CapCut or another editor for burned-in type. This matrix does not upgrade a handoff sentence into a caption product claim.
Can I treat ElevenLabs speech-to-text as burned-in captions?
No. Speech-to-text and studio projects appear on the ElevenLabs extract; a vertical caption burn-in product was not observed. Export the track, then caption in CapCut.
What about VEED, Captions.ai, or Kapwing?
Prices live on VEED, Captions, and Kapwing, checked 2026-10-17. They stay off this first-tier matrix.
