Luma AI is the app and the API behind Ray3.2. Creators open app.lumalabs.ai. Plans are on lumalabs.ai/pricing. Clip prices are on lumalabs.ai/api. For YouTube, Shorts, and TikTok, Luma makes a shot, restyles a take, or changes the frame. Captions and the upload stay in an editor.

llm-info, fetched on 2026-10-17, calls the company Luma, the brand Luma AI, and the video model Luma Ray. Ray3.2 is current and is dated June 2026 there. Dream Machine and Ray2 are deprecated. Photon is no longer a separate product. The image model named there is UNI-1.1. Shot behavior is on Luma Ray. This page is which plan to buy, what a credit spends, and what the API bills.

Who it's for

Luma fits people who need cinematic b-roll, a modify pass on footage they already shot, or a new aspect ratio, and who will pay with credits or per clip. A faceless channel cutting 5-second and 10-second vertical beats, a marketer swapping a product inside a take, and a developer reading a public Ray grid are the jobs those pages describe.

A stock presenter is closer to HeyGen or Creatify. A narrator alone is ElevenLabs. Luma also meters some ElevenLabs audio in Luma credits, which is a different bill. A posting calendar is Revid, Faceless.so, or AutoShorts. Plus is the individual card that prints commercial use. Pro and Ultra raise the grant and the Luma Agents multiplier. Read the Ray table against 10,000 credits before leaving Plus.

What it does

The FAQ on lumalabs.ai/ray names four workflows: Modify Video, image-to-video, text-to-video, and Reframe. One clip holds up to 16 keyframes, including image-to-video. Modify Video V2 is described as up to 20 seconds at 1080p, with motion transfer and facial performance for up to 8 faces. Lip sync holds when face tracking is on. Inputs are mp4, mov, and wmv. Aspects are 9:16, 3:4, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, and 21:9. Standard output is mp4. HDR is native 16-bit, and EXR export is ACES2065-1 (AP0).

Text and image clips are 5 or 10 seconds at 360p draft, 540p, 720p (the default), or 1080p. Those two modes have no natively generated audio. Modify and Reframe keep audio already in the file. Modify length is up to 20 seconds at 24 fps, 15 at 30 fps, and 7 at 60 fps. The FAQ lists shake, whip-fast action, blur, darkness, low resolution, crowds, and occluded faces as weak inputs. Reframe is up to 16 seconds in one answer and up to 12 seconds in another. Both were on the page on 2026-10-17.

The same credits buy other labs' video at the rates below. A Uni-1 still price and an in-app audio rate were not observed. A Luma Agents run cap beyond the 4x and 15x plan lines was not observed. llm-info mentions an iOS app. A store URL was not observed.

Pricing tiers

Verified on 2026-10-17 against the pricing page.

Plan Sticker What the card adds
Plus $30/month, or $300 billed yearly 10,000 credits; Luma and third-party models; guest edit access; commercial use
Pro $90/month, or $900 billed yearly Everything in Plus; 40,000 credits; 4x Luma Agents
Ultra $300/month, or $3,000 billed yearly Everything in Pro; 150,000 credits; 15x Luma Agents
Team Contact us Members, shared projects, analytics, shared credits, SSO. Dollar not observed
Enterprise Contact us Commitments, education, custom fine-tuning. Dollar not observed

The headline says save up to 20 percent with yearly. Plan data also stores $25, $75, and $250, the yearly totals divided by 12. Twelve months at the monthly sticker would be $360, $1,080, and $3,600, so yearly is about 17 percent lower. Offer text includes free trial credits and commercial use. The trial count, a $0 card, watermark rules, rollover, and the license contract were not observed. llm-info says there is no Team plan. The pricing page still shows a Team card.

Ray3.2 SDR credits, from the Ray page. The pricing page lists video-to-video at 36, 48, 72, and 144 credits per second. Times 5 or 10, those rates equal the clip totals. Reframe there is 10, 20, 40, and 120 credits per second. HDR is 2×. HDR plus EXR is 3×. The audio column is a dash.

Task 360p draft 540p 720p 1080p
Text or image, 5s 20 50 100 400
Text or image, 10s 60 150 300 1200
Video-to-video, 5s 180 240 360 720
Video-to-video, 10s 360 480 720 1440
Reframe, per second 10 20 40 120

From that table, Plus covers 100 silent 720p 5-second text clips, or 25 at 1080p, if nothing else is spent. A 1080p 5-second HDR text clip is 800 credits. A failed-generation rebate was not observed. Ray3.14 is still listed at 4, 10, 20, and 80 credits per second for text and image, with HDR at 4×. Name Ray3.2 on new work so the old multiplier is not what gets billed.

Other rows spend the same credits and are not each lab's own price. Seedance 2.5 text and image with audio is 36 credits per second at draft or 480p, 78 at 720p, and 191 at 1080p. Kling 3.0 and Kling Omni text and image are 30 per second at 720p without the audio Yes, and 40 with it. Veo 3.1 is 140 per second at 720p or 1080p without audio, and 280 with it. Minimax H3 is 28 at 768p and 46 at 1440p. Read Seedance, Kling, Veo, and MiniMax Hailuo before mixing wallets. No dollar per Luma credit was printed.

Credit rates for ElevenLabs speech, sound effects, or music inside Luma, for Uni-1 stills, and for Sync Lipsync were not observed on the 2026-10-17 extract. A Luma audio row is not an ElevenLabs subscription, and it does not give a Ray text clip a voice.

Pros

  • Plus, Pro, and Ultra print dollars and grants on one card, and Plus prints commercial use.
  • App credits and API dollars were both public on 2026-10-17, so the Build tier does not need a sales call.
  • 9:16 is listed with 16:9 and 21:9, and the silent-audio FAQ matches the dash on the Ray3.2 block.
  • Sixteen keyframes, HDR at 2×, and EXR at 3× are numbers, and the modify FAQ names the footage it handles poorly.

Cons

  • Text and image clips do not speak, and they stop at 10 seconds. Reframe is 12 seconds in one answer and 16 in another.
  • Draft 360p has credits and no API dollar. Five seconds of 1080p SDR text is $1.20, against $0.15 at 540p.
  • Ray3.14 is still on the page with HDR at 4×. Team has no dollar, and llm-info says that plan does not exist.
  • An MCP URL, a trial count, a watermark rule, and rollover were not observed.

Usage flow

  1. Lay the voice in ElevenLabs before spending picture credits. An in-Luma audio credit rate was not observed.
  2. Generate on Plus or the API. Cut with 720p 5-second SDR clips. Render keepers at 1080p. Skip HDR unless the grade is in Resolve or Nuke.
  3. Caption and export in CapCut. Upload the mp4.

Workflow usage

On faceless, one 9:16 clip of 5 or 10 seconds is a beat under narration. Voice stays on ElevenLabs. An in-Luma audio credit rate was not observed. Captions stay on CapCut. Modify is the other pattern: restyle one clean take and keep its audio, inside the frame-rate cap.

On long-to-short, cut the episode first. Modify runs about 7 to 20 seconds by frame rate. On captions-cover, Ray has no caption model. A cover can be a frame from the clip, or a Uni-1 still. The still's credit price was not observed. On ugc-ads, product swap and environment change are modify jobs. A locked presenter belongs with HeyGen, and Creatify is the ad template. On voice-publish, ship the mp4 plus a voice. Leave HDR and EXR in the grade.

Underlying models

Ray3.2 is the current video model. The spec is on Luma Ray. Do not brief Dream Machine or Ray2. Ray3.14 still has a credit table on the pricing page, with HDR at 4× against Ray3.2's 2×.

The app hosts more than Ray. Priced rows on the same card are Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 and Kling Omni, and Minimax H3, at the credit rates above. A speech, sound-effect, music, Uni-1 still, or Sync Lipsync credit rate was not observed. Image API dollars sit on another tab and are not copied here. Luma Ray records Uni-1 as a separate image model and does not quote a still price.

API and MCP

has_api is true. The grid is on lumalabs.ai/api. llm-info also names platform.lumalabs.ai, docs at docs.agents.lumalabs.ai, and a playground on the platform host. This check read the cost page and its FAQ.

Build is pay per video, with no minimum, rate limits, and no latency SLA. Copy nearby says prices are approximate and based on billing tokens. The breakdown then prints this SDR grid. HDR is 2×. HDR plus EXR is 3×, so a 1080p 5-second HDR text clip is $2.40 only as $1.20 times 2. A troubleshooting answer lists other HDR figures. Use this table. Draft 360p has no dollar row.

Task 540p 720p 1080p
Text or image, 5s $0.15 $0.30 $1.20
Text or image, 10s $0.45 $0.90 $3.60
Video-to-video, 5s $0.72 $1.44 $2.16
Video-to-video, 10s $1.08 $2.16 $4.32
Reframe, per second $0.06 $0.12 $0.36

The FAQ bills per 5-second block and calls 10 seconds two blocks. The cells do not share one multiplier. Ten-second text and image prices are 3× the 5-second cells. Ten-second video-to-video is 1.5× at 540p and 720p, and 2× at 1080p. The FAQ also allows video-to-video at 15 or 20 seconds. Those dollar rows were not observed. HDR extend and HDR reframe are rejected. One answer caps URL and base64 sources at 30 seconds. Another caps every source, including a generation id, at 30 seconds.

Scale is contact sales: 1 request per minute per unit on the base tier, or 0.4 on the max tier, minimum 4 units, with an SLA and a no-train guarantee. The unit price was not observed. llm-info calls the API a credit system. Build is in dollars. No conversion from an app credit to an API dollar was printed. A public Dream Machine migration URL was not observed.

No MCP URL was on the pricing page, the API page, the Ray page, llm-info, or llms.txt. Fal is named as a partner. A Fal Ray price was not observed. Runway and Higgsfield publish MCP servers. Kling publishes a prepaid API.

Similar tools

  • Runway bundles several labs and a documented MCP server. Luma is the pick for Ray keyframes, modify, or EXR.
  • Kling is the pick when the clip must include native audio at Kling's unit price. Kling inside Luma spends Luma credits. Seedance in Dreamina or CapCut is a separate meter from Luma's Seedance rows.
  • Higgsfield and Pika are other multi-model benches. Open Luma when the model is Ray3.2.
  • InVideo, Pictory, Fliki, and Lumen5 turn a script or a URL into a narrated video. CapCut captions the Ray file.

FAQ

Is Luma the same product as Ray3.2?

Luma is the company, the app, and the API. Ray3.2 is the current video model. Dream Machine and Ray2 are deprecated on llm-info. Ray3.14 still has a credit table and a 4× HDR line. Specs are on Luma Ray.

What does a Plus grant cover?

Plus is $30 a month, or $300 billed yearly, for 10,000 credits. At the Ray3.2 table, a silent 720p 5-second text clip is 100 of those credits. Third-party video, stills, and ElevenLabs audio on the same pricing page spend that grant too.

Does Luma have an API or an official MCP server?

The API cost page is lumalabs.ai/api. Five-second SDR text and image clips are $0.15, $0.30, and $1.20 at 540p, 720p, and 1080p. An official MCP URL was not observed on 2026-10-17.

Can Ray3.2 narrate a faceless Short by itself?

Text-to-video and image-to-video have no natively generated audio. Add a voice with ElevenLabs, then caption in CapCut. An in-Luma audio credit rate was not observed. Modify can keep dialogue already in the file when face tracking is on.
